Maruti Suzuki has made some updates to its Brezza compact SUV, although these changes were introduced silently without much fanfare. The updates include rearranging the features list and altering the powertrain options.
One notable change in the features is that now the Maruti Brezza comes with seat-belt reminders for all seats, not just limited to the front seats. This safety feature works regardless of whether all seats are occupied, similar to newer Maruti models like the Fronx and Jimny. However, the CNG variants of the Brezza have lost two safety features: the electronic stability program (ESP) and hill-hold assist.
The rest of the features list remains unchanged, offering a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, up to six airbags, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Arkamys-tuned speaker system, wireless charging, and a single-pane sunroof.
Regarding the powertrain, Maruti Suzuki has removed the mild-hybrid technology from the manual gearbox-equipped versions of the Brezza. However, the automatic variant still retains this technology, and the CNG version never had it to begin with.
The Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 103hp and 137Nm of torque. The CNG version with the same engine produces 87.8hp and 121.5Nm of torque in CNG mode and 100.6hp and 136Nm of torque in petrol mode. The CNG version comes only with a 5-speed manual, while the petrol version offers a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Due to the removal of the mild-hybrid tech, the Brezza manual’s fuel efficiency has decreased from up to 20.15kpl to 17.38kpl, resulting in a reduction of up to 2.77kpl.
Despite the changes in features, there have been no alterations to the price of the Brezza. It continues to start at Rs 8.29 lakh for the LXI MT variant and goes up to Rs 13.98 lakh for the ZXi+ AT variant. The Brezza competes with other models like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite in the market.
