Land Rover has introduced the facelifted version of the Range Rover Velar at a starting price of Rs 93 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The updated Velar is available in a single HSE trim and offers two powertrain options. While bookings for the facelifted Velar began recently, customers can expect deliveries to commence in September.
The new Range Rover Velar facelift comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. It competes with rivals like the Porsche Macan and Jaguar F-Pace in the luxury SUV segment. One of the significant changes in the facelift is the redesigned dashboard, bringing it in line with other models like the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The highlight of the interior is the 11.4-inch touchscreen equipped with Land Rover’s Pivi Pro system, featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
The powertrain options for the Velar facelift include a 250hp, 365Nm, 2.0-litre petrol engine, and a 204hp, 430Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine, both with a mild-hybrid system and paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol variant claims a top speed of 217kph and accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 7.5 seconds, while the diesel variant claims a top speed of 210kph and does the 0-100kph run in 8.3 seconds.
Regarding design, the facelifted Velar receives Land Rover’s new pixel LED headlights with revised daytime running lamp signature. Changes have also been made to the rear bumper and tail-lights. In terms of competition, the Range Rover Velar facelift is priced higher than its rivals, the Porsche Macan and Jaguar F-Pace.
Jaguar Land Rover reported robust sales in the first quarter of the financial year 2024, with a 102 percent year-on-year growth, selling 1,048 units. The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models constitute a significant portion of their current order book. Additionally, JLR’s pre-owned cars division recorded an impressive 137 percent year-on-year growth.
