Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has achieved a major milestone with the Hyundai i20 crossing 1.5 million cumulative sales in the Indian market. Since its debut in 2008, the premium hatchback has established itself as one of the country’s most successful models, combining modern design, advanced technology and class-leading features.
Celebrating the achievement, Sunil Moolchandani, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India, said the i20 has consistently represented innovation, premium quality and aspiration. He added that the 1.5 million sales milestone reflects the trust and loyalty customers have placed in the brand over nearly two decades.
The Hyundai i20 has played a significant role in shaping India’s premium hatchback segment by introducing several segment-first technologies and premium features. Across three generations, the hatchback has evolved to meet changing customer expectations with connected-car technology, enhanced safety and refined styling.
The lineup has also expanded with the Hyundai i20 N Line, offering a more engaging driving experience inspired by Hyundai’s motorsport heritage, while the i20 Knight Edition caters to buyers looking for a distinctive all-black styling package.
Powering the standard i20 is a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual and Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Meanwhile, the performance-oriented i20 N Line is equipped with a 1.0-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).
The current Hyundai i20 continues to offer a feature-rich package with six airbags as standard, a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, voice-enabled electric sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluelink connected technology, Bose premium audio system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), dashcam, and highline tyre pressure monitoring system, among other convenience and safety features.
With over 1.5 million customers choosing the i20, Hyundai’s premium hatchback remains a benchmark in its segment, continuing to deliver a compelling mix of style, technology, safety and driving comfort for Indian buyers.
