Following a number of teasers, Hyundai has formally unveiled the upcoming Exter SUV for the Indian market. Reservations can now be made for a nominal fee of Rs 11,000, with price information anticipated to be released in late July or early August. The Exter, which will fight against the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3, is Hyundai’s most affordable SUV in India.

Hyundai Exter

A 1.2-litre petrol engine with natural aspiration, estimated at 83 hp and 114 Nm of torque, will be an option for the Exter. The engine will be coupled to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission, with a factory-installed CNG kit also being an option. The Grand i10 Nios and the Aura share the same platform and structural support as the Exter.

The Exter will be available in five trim levels: EX, S, SX, SX(O), and top-spec SX(O) Connect. The top-end model is likely to come equipped with connected car features. The SUV has boxy proportions, an upright posture, Hyundai’s Parametric design language, split headlamps, and LED Daytime Running Lamps with a H pattern. The SUV also has elegant dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, circular and slightly flared wheel arches with thick cladding across the length, and dual-tone paint options with a floating roof look.

Even though Hyundai has only just unveiled the outside, recent spy photos of the SUV being tested showed off the finished look. The India-specific model is essentially the same as the model spotted abroad. In addition, Hyundai has stated that the Exter will be the first vehicle to be sold in India in a new exterior paint colour named “Ranger Khaki.”

Hyundai’s Exter SUV will sit below the Venue and is targeted at India’s well-liked compact SUV market. The SUV’s affordable pricing and a variety of features are anticipated to appeal to purchasers on a tight budget.
