Hyundai has started production of the Exter sub-compact SUV at its Chennai plant. Bookings of the vehicle have already commenced for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Exter

This SUV will compete with the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Ignis. The Exter will feature several segment-first offerings such as a sunroof and a dashcam. Its exterior design includes a distinctive parametric grille, LED daytime running lamps, body cladding, and faux skid plates. Inside, the Exter shares similarities with its sibling models, with a similar dashboard design and an 8-inch touchscreen. However, it boasts a fully digital instrument cluster found in the i20 and Verna. Powering the Exter is a 1.2-liter petrol engine with 83hp and 114Nm of torque, available with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. Additionally, it will be the first sub-compact SUV to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit, delivering 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
