Ola Electric has recently announced the launch of its new entry-level electric scooter called the S1 X. Alongside this release, the company has also introduced the second generation of its S1 Pro model, which is priced at Rs 1.48 lakh. The new S1 Pro Gen 2 shares the same platform as the S1 X and S1 Air.
The improvements in the second-gen S1 Pro include enhanced power and performance. The motor, for instance, has undergone changes. While the previous version had a continuous output of 5.5kW and a peak output of 8.5kW, the new version produces 5kW of continuous power and 11kW of peak power. As a result, the claimed top speed has increased from 116kph to 120kph, and the acceleration time from 0 to 40kph has reduced from 2.9 seconds to 2.6 seconds.
In terms of range, despite maintaining the same battery capacity of 4kWh, Ola Electric has made improvements to the battery pack and efficiency. This has led to a slight increase in the certified range, which has gone up from 181km to 195km. The true range in Eco mode has also seen a boost from 170km to 180km. The charging time, however, remains unchanged at 6.5 hours for a full 0-100 percent charge.
Changes have also been made to the underpinnings of the S1 Pro Gen 2. The second generation model now features a conventional telescopic fork suspension instead of the previous single-sided front suspension. The new frame design has led to the removal of the spine section, resulting in a flat floorboard and a slight reduction in weight from 121kg to 116kg. Although the boot space has decreased by 2 liters, the 34-liter boot still remains generously sized.
The price for the second-gen S1 Pro is Rs 1.48 lakh, which is Rs 8,000 more than the cost of the first-gen model. Bookings for the new model are now open, and deliveries are expected to start from mid-September. These prices are exclusive of the showroom and are applicable after factoring in the FAME-2 subsidy in Bengaluru.
