Norton Motorcycles’ flagship Manx R superbike has won a Bronze award at the prestigious 2026 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), recognising its distinctive design and rider-focused engineering.
The Manx R was honoured in the Automotive and Transportation category at the awards organised by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The recognition makes it one of only a select number of motorcycles to receive an IDEA award in the programme’s 45-year history.
Norton has taken a minimalist approach to the Manx R’s design, focusing on clean surfaces, purposeful proportions and exposed mechanical components rather than the aggressive styling elements commonly seen on modern superbikes. The motorcycle was designed by Norton’s in-house team under the direction of Simon Skinner, with Professor Gerry McGovern OBE serving as Chief Creative Advisor.
As the flagship model of Norton’s new Resurgence strategy under TVS Motor Company ownership, the Manx R combines its design-led approach with an all-new V4 engine, semi-active suspension, Brembo brakes, advanced rider-assistance systems and an 8-inch TFT touchscreen.
Designed, engineered and built at Norton’s headquarters in Solihull, UK, the Manx R represents the brand’s new-generation design direction. Norton says the superbike, along with the Atlas mid-size adventure motorcycle, will go on sale in the US from October 2026, with prices to be announced.
