Norton Motorcycles has marked a significant milestone in its revival journey with the rollout of the first Atlas motorcycles from TVS Motor Company’s manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The event comes ahead of the official launch of the all-new Atlas range scheduled for next month.

The rollout ceremony, held on June 24, was attended by Dr. Sutapa Choudhury, British Deputy High Commissioner for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, highlighting the growing industrial collaboration between the United Kingdom and India. The Atlas project combines Norton’s British design and engineering expertise with TVS Motor Company’s manufacturing capabilities and global production infrastructure.

A Key Model in Norton’s Revival Strategy

The Atlas is among the most important products introduced by Norton in recent years and forms a key pillar of the brand’s global growth strategy. Unveiled alongside the Manx family at EICMA 2025, the Atlas range reintroduces Norton to the highly competitive adventure and sport-touring motorcycle segments.

The lineup consists of two models — the adventure-focused Atlas and the road-oriented Atlas GT. Together, they aim to expand Norton’s presence in some of the fastest-growing premium motorcycle categories globally while maintaining the brand’s focus on rider engagement, performance, and design.

Designed in Britain, Built in India

Developed at Norton’s headquarters in Solihull, UK, the Atlas is powered by a new 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft. The engine is housed within a lightweight steel trellis frame and is paired with a comprehensive electronics package.

Key features include:

  • Bosch six-axis IMU
  • Lean-sensitive rider aids
  • Five configurable riding modes
  • Fully adjustable KYB suspension
  • Cornering cruise control
  • 8-inch TFT instrument display
  • Smartphone connectivity via the Norton Rider App

The standard Atlas features a 19-inch front wheel to enhance its adventure-touring capabilities, while the Atlas GT adopts 17-inch wheels at both ends for a more road-focused riding experience.

TVS Manufacturing Strength Supports Global Expansion

Production of the Atlas range at the Hosur facility reflects the strategic partnership between Norton and TVS Motor Company. While Norton continues to lead design, engineering, and brand development from the UK, TVS contributes manufacturing expertise, quality systems, supply-chain efficiencies, and global-scale production capabilities.

With Norton’s Solihull facility currently operating at capacity producing the Manx R superbike, the Hosur plant has become the primary production hub for the Atlas and Atlas GT models.

Commenting on the rollout, K.N. Radhakrishnan, Director and CEO of TVS Motor Company, said the Atlas represents the coming together of British engineering excellence and Indian manufacturing capabilities, creating a globally competitive premium motorcycle.

Norton Motorcycles CEO Richard Arnold described the Atlas as a modern interpretation of the brand’s adventure-motorcycling heritage, carrying forward a legacy of exploration and long-distance riding.

India Launch Planned for Later This Year

Norton has confirmed that the Atlas range will be introduced in India later this year. The motorcycles will be retailed through TVS Paddock, the company’s upcoming premium retail network designed specifically for high-end motorcycle brands and experiences. The new retail format is expected to debut during Q2 FY27.

Reviving an Iconic Nameplate

The Atlas name holds a special place in Norton’s history. First introduced in 1962, the original Norton Atlas was powered by a 745cc parallel-twin engine and gained popularity for its strong performance and touring capabilities, particularly in export markets such as the United States.

More than six decades later, the all-new Atlas aims to revive that spirit for modern riders, blending contemporary technology, advanced electronics, and premium engineering with the adventurous character that made the original model famous.

With production now underway, the Atlas marks another important step in Norton’s transformation under TVS ownership and its ambitions to expand its presence in premium motorcycle markets around the world.
