BMW India has launched the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB), bringing more space, enhanced performance and upgraded digital features to its popular luxury SUV. Locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, the X1 LWB is offered in a petrol variant and is priced at an introductory ₹49.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are now open through BMW dealerships.

The biggest highlight is the extended wheelbase, which has grown by 108 mm to 2,800 mm. Rear seats can also recline up to 28.5 degrees, while boot capacity ranges from 540 litres to 1,700 litres.

The X1 LWB features a 1.5-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 156 hp and 230 Nm, paired with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive. BMW claims a fuel efficiency of 15.5 km/l.

Inside, the SUV gets a widescreen curved display, BMW Operating System 9, wireless charging, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a segment-leading 9-square-foot panoramic sunroof. Digital features include BMW Digital Key Plus, BMW Digital Premium and over-the-air software updates.

Safety and driver assistance features include eight airbags, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Assistant, Cruise Control with Braking Function, Automatic Emergency Braking, Parking Assistant Plus with 360-degree surround view and a Reversing Assistant.
