Toyota has unveiled the Rumion MPV in India, a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based model that further enriches Toyota’s MPV lineup. This addition bolsters Toyota’s portfolio, which already includes the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, and Vellfire. The Rumion, positioned as an affordable choice, retains most of the Ertiga’s design with subtle updates like a refreshed bumper, grille, and interior trim. Maruti Suzuki will manufacture and supply the Rumion to Toyota, continuing their collaboration.
Powered by Maruti’s 1.5-liter petrol engine, the Rumion offers manual and automatic transmission options, along with a CNG variant. Toyota plans to capitalize on its strong brand image and emphasis on ownership experience to set the Rumion apart from the Ertiga. In a move to address previous concerns about lengthy waiting periods, Toyota has adopted a “first in, first out” strategy for deliveries, ensuring a more transparent and customer-centric approach. This strategic move aligns with Toyota’s commitment to offering diverse options across the MPV segment, capitalizing on its brand reputation and delivering a differentiated ownership experience for Indian customers.
