Tata Harrier is the company’s flagship SUV in its current lineup before the launch of Cassini (showcased as Buzzard in Geneva Motor Show). Harrier has created a lot of charm in a short time after its launch. Its sales have always turned out to be good, however, the MG Hector and the Kia Seltos have given a very tough competition.
The Harrier has great road presence, it has a design which very few could dislike. It’s an SUV that anyone would love to look back at. However, it lacked the most popular color in SUVs i.e. black. Tata has today launched a Dark Edition. There is no change mechanically but is just a cosmetic update. There are a total of 14 different enhancements made to the ongoing Harrier.
A new Atlas Black Harrier gets various changes including new 17″ Blackstone Alloys and various other chrome inserts that enhance it looks. It will be based on the top-end fully loaded XZ trim and carry a price tag extremely close to the ongoing model XZ Dual Tone at ₹16.76 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.
On the inside, there are many changes including all-black Premium Benecke Kaliko Blackstone Leather upholstery, Blackstone Matrix dashboard, and a new Gunmetal Grey chrome pack.
Commenting on the launch of this limited edition, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head Marketing, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “In line with our endeavor to take the style quotient of the Harrier even higher, we wanted to offer a product that would make heads turn. The color Black has always been desired amongst car buyers across the SUV segment. To meet these aspirations and to mark the onset of the festive season, we have launched the Harrier Dark Edition today in a completely new avatar with a compelling package of striking exteriors and inviting interiors with 14 design enhancements. We are confident our customers will appreciate the Harrier in this look as much as they have appreciated the Harrier since its launch.”
Harrier is based on the OMEGARC platform derived from Land Rover D8 platform. It provides excellent performance in terms of Handling and Ride. It is powered by a 2.0l Kryotec motor borrowed from Fiat producing 140PS and 350NM of power and torque. It gets various Drive modes altering engine performance and also various Terrain Response ESP modes. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard and a 6-speed Torque converter automatic is expected to launch shortly.
