Skoda India has launched the Kushaq Matte edition, positioned between the Style and Monte Carlo variants in the Kushaq lineup. It is available with both the 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engines, and customers can choose between manual and automatic gearboxes for each engine. However, only 500 units of the Matte edition will be produced. The key feature of the Matte edition is its unique matte carbon steel exterior paint. It also includes gloss black finishing for the door handles, wing mirrors, and rear spoiler, while the chrome finish for the grille, tailgate garnish, and window lining remains unchanged. The Volkswagen Taigun received a similar treatment recently.
The equipment list of the Matte edition is based on the top-spec Style trim but adds the larger 10.0-inch touchscreen from the Monte Carlo trim, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, it comes with a 6-speaker sound system with a sub-woofer, an upgrade over the Style trim.
In terms of pricing, the Kushaq Matte edition costs Rs 40,000 more than the standard Kushaq Style variant. The prices start at Rs 16.19 lakh for the 1.0 TSI manual variant, Rs 17.79 lakh for the 1.0 TSI automatic, Rs 18.19 lakh for the 1.5 TSI manual, and Rs 19.39 lakh for the top-spec 1.5 TSI automatic.
Variant | Ex-showroom price |
---|---|
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition 1.0-litre MT | Rs. 16.19 lakh |
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition 1.0-litre AT | Rs. 17.79 lakh |
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition 1.5-litre MT | Rs. 18.19 lakh |
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition 1.5-litre AT | Rs. 19.39 lakh |
Skoda aims to keep the Kushaq lineup fresh with the introduction of the Matte edition since no major updates are planned for the Kushaq and the Slavia in the near future. Following the success of the Kushaq Monte Carlo, Skoda hopes the Matte edition will achieve a similar level of popularity.
The Kushaq Matte edition will compete against SUVs like the Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos (upcoming facelift), Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and the upcoming Honda Elevate. Notably, some of these rivals also offer special editions, such as the Seltos X-Line, Creta Knight Edition, Grand Vitara Black Edition, and the Taigun Matte Edition.
