Safety standards in Indian cars have been on the rise and some manufacturers are leading the space in it. The vehicles manufactured in India that have managed to score good ratings are very few, but we see the numbers increasing. Here, we have a list of the safest made-in-India cars, as per Global NCAP crash test results.

1.Mahindra XUV 300 – 5 stars

Mahindra XUV300 is currently one of the safest vehicles manufactured in India, as per Global NCAP crash test results. The vehicle scored a 5-star safety rating for adult occupants (safety score- 16.42/17), and a 4-star rating for child occupants (safety score- 37.44/49).

The top variant gets 7 airbags making it even safer.

2. Tata Altroz- 5 stars

The Tata Altroz is currently the safest hatchback in India, with an adult occupant safety rating of 5 stars (16.13/17) and a child occupant protection rating of 3 stars (29/49).

It gets dual airbags on all trims.

3. Tata Nexon – 5 stars

Tata Nexon was the first car to get a 5-star safety rating in India, as per Global NCAP. The Tata crossover has a 5-star adult safety rating (16.06/17) and a 3-star child safety rating (25/49). Its also gets dual airbags like Tata Altroz.

4. Mahindra Marazzo

Mahindra Marazzo is also an extremely safe vehicle, with a 4-star safety rating for adult occupants (12.85/17) and a 3-star safety rating for child occupants (22.22/49). It gets dual airbags on all trims but has disc brakes on all wheels.

5. Volkswagen Polo

The VW hatch has a 4-star adult safety rating (12.54/17) and a 3-star child safety rating (29.91/49). This Indian model polo is one generation behind its international model. Being a decade old car it’s still one of the safest cars in India.

6. Mahindra Thar

The Mahindra Thar scored a 4-star safety rating for adult occupants (safety score- 12.52/17), and a 4-star rating for child occupants (safety score- 41.11/49). This adventure-offroad car is one the safest in its segment in India.

7. Tata Tiago/Tigor

Tata Tiago and Tigor vehicles, they offer great safety and are budget-friendly. The pair has been awarded a 4-star adult safety rating (12.52/17) and a 3-star child safety rating (34.15/49).

8. Suzuki Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Suzuki Maruti Vitara Brezza scored a 4-star safety rating for adult occupants (safety score- 12.51/17), and a 2-star rating for child occupants (safety score- 17.93/49).
