While the COVID-19 Pandemic has adversely affected all the sectors of economy and has also delayed many car launches, there is a good news for buyers waiting for a full sized SUV from MG Motors, the Gloster. President and MD of MG Motors India, Rajeev Chaba has confirmed that launch of the Gloster is on track and will be during the festive season before Diwali. The smaller 6-7 seater Hector Plus will be launched in June.

MG Gloster would be a upgrade for people having budget of around ₹45 lakhs and looking out for something other than Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. MG Gloster is a massive SUV being longer than the big fat Toyota Land Cruiser. That said, it will have acres of room for all 7 passengers. This will also help give it massive road presence.

Like all other offerings from MG, Gloster will also be loaded with features to the brim. It will get Adaptive LED Headlamps, Panoramic Sunroof, 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system, gesture control for tailgate opening and three zone climate control system. The variant showcased at the AutoExpo 2020 also sported electronic rear doors which could be a great offering.

MG Gloster will be powered by a in-house developed 2.0-litre Twin-Turbo diesel motor that produces 480Nm of torque and 218BHP of power. Initially it will be launched with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 8-speed automatic transmission will enter the market later.

To keep the price competitive it will be assembled at the Halol Plant of MG. It will be priced under ₹45 lakhs and key rivals will be the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Skoda Kodiaq.
