MG Motor India has introduced the Blackstorm edition of its premium SUV, the Gloster, priced at Rs 40.3 lakh. While the mechanical aspects remain unchanged, this special edition features a black theme both on the exterior and interior. The dimensions of the Gloster remain the same, but the exterior receives a fresh appearance with black elements such as roof rails, tail-lamp and headlamp housing, window trim, fog lamp housing, and black alloy wheels. Red accents are also present on the headlamps, brake calipers, front and rear bumpers, and wing mirrors.
The interior of the Gloster Blackstorm edition sports black upholstery with red accents on the steering and dashboard. It retains all the features of the regular Gloster, including a 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, 8-way adjustable passenger’s seat, dual panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like lane change assist and adaptive cruise control.
The Gloster Blackstorm edition is available in 6- and 7-seater options. However, MG seems to have discontinued the 6-seater variant in the regular Gloster. The 6-seater layout comprises captain seats, while the 7-seater features a bench for the third row. MG has also announced an upcoming 8-seater variant for the regular Gloster, likely to have a bench in the middle and last row.
In terms of powertrain, the MG Gloster Blackstorm edition retains the existing engines without any performance upgrades. The 2WD variant comes with a 163hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, while the 4WD variant is equipped with a more powerful 218hp, 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed gearbox, but the 4WD version incorporates a drivetrain with a BorgWarner transfer case and a shift-on-fly system.
The price of the MG Gloster Blackstorm edition starts at Rs 40.3 lakh for the 6-seater and 7-seater 2WD variants, while the 6- or 7-seater 4WD version is priced at Rs 43.08 lakh. These prices are higher than the top-spec 7- or 8-seater Savvy variant, which retails for Rs 41.77 lakh.
