MG Motor India has launched its second electric vehicle, the MG Comet EV at Rs 7.98 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom) While this is the starting price for the three-door EV, prices for more variants will be announced soon. Test drives for the EV will begin from April 27, bookings open on May 15 and deliveries will commence later this month.
MG Comet has a boxy design with a full-width LED bar at the front and gets small 12-inch alloy wheels. The EV is available in five colours with multiple graphics packs. On the inside, this compact car packs a lot of features, it gets a fully-digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, front power windows, one-touch slide and recline passenger seat for second-row entry, keyless entry, tilt steering and manual AC.
MG Comet is powered by a 17.3kWh battery pack which claims a ARAI-certified range of 230km, MG has sourced the battery from Tata AutoComp. The Comet gets a single electric motor which produces 42hp and 110Nm of torque, the EV takes seven hours to fully charge with a 3.3kW charger offered by MG. Speaking dimensionally, It measures 2,974mm in length, 1,505mm in width and 1,640mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,010mm.
