JLR India has kicked off FY27 with its best-ever first-quarter retail performance, retailing 1,665 vehicles during Q1 FY27, an 11% year-on-year growth. The luxury carmaker also reported wholesales of 1,694 units, registering a 4% increase compared to the same period last year.
The company’s performance was largely driven by its flagship luxury SUVs. Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender together accounted for over 85% of total retail sales, while the Defender continued to be JLR India’s highest-selling model, reaffirming its popularity among luxury SUV buyers.

JLR also witnessed a sharp rise in interest for its ultra-luxury SV and Bespoke offerings following the revised pricing announced under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Customers can now avail benefits of up to ₹75 lakh, depending on the model, resulting in increased enquiries and growing demand for highly personalised Range Rover SV models.
Commenting on the strong start to the financial year, Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said the company has achieved its strongest-ever first-quarter retail sales, driven by sustained demand for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender. He added that the India-UK FTA is a significant milestone for the luxury automotive industry, enabling JLR to offer a wider range of exclusive SV products, bespoke creations and special editions tailored for Indian customers.

Looking ahead, JLR India expects to maintain this momentum with a strong product pipeline planned for FY27. The company believes its expanding portfolio of luxury SUVs and customised offerings will further strengthen its position in India’s fast-growing premium automotive market.
