Hyundai India has launched the Venue Knight edition, priced between Rs 10 lakh to 13.48 lakh. Unlike its South Korean exclusive counterpart, the Venue Flux edition, the Knight edition focuses solely on cosmetic updates, without any changes to the mechanical aspects. This edition is the second Hyundai model to receive the “Knight” treatment.
In terms of design, the exterior of the Venue Knight edition features blacked-out elements, such as the front grille, roof rails, alloy wheels, wing mirrors, and front and rear skid plates. The addition of brass-colored inserts on the bumpers, alloy wheels, and roof rails, along with red-painted front brake calipers, enhances the paint scheme. The car is adorned with logos treated in a ‘dark chrome’ finish and features a “Knight” emblem, similar to the Creta Knight edition. The available monotone color options for this edition include black, white, grey, and red, with a dual-tone option of red and black also on offer.
Inside the car, the Knight edition maintains an all-black upholstery with brass highlights. Notably, this version introduces a dual-camera dashcam and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The dashcam setup, reminiscent of the Venue N Line, offers enhanced safety features.
Regarding the powertrain, the Knight edition is exclusively offered with petrol engines. The options include an 83hp, 114Nm, 1.2-liter engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox for the S(O) and SX variants. The SX(O) variant comes with a 120hp, 172Nm, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, available with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT.
In terms of competition, the Hyundai Venue, as a compact SUV, competes against rivals such as the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and the slightly larger Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Notably, Hyundai plans to launch the next-generation Venue in India in 2025. This model will be the first vehicle manufactured at Hyundai’s recently acquired Talegaon plant.
