The ‘Elevate’ name for Honda’s next midsize SUV in India has been officially announced. On June 6, the new SUV will make its premiere across the globe. It is anticipated to hit the Indian market in August 2023. The Honda Elevate is a brand-new SUV that was created from the ground up and will also be sold in other countries outside of India. The SUV will be between 4.2 and 4.3 metres long and use the same chassis as the fifth-generation City sedan that is presently available in India.

The 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, natrually aspirated petrol engine that powers the Honda City with 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque will also be used in the Elevate as its powerplant. Although the SUV’s engine’s precise state of tune hasn’t been confirmed, a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox is anticipated to be paired with it. While a diesel engine won’t be offered, the Elevate will offer a hybrid powertrain in the future.

The exterior styling of the Honda Elevate is expected to take inspiration from the SUV models offered abroad, such as the BR-V and HR-V. It will sport hefty bodywork, powerful wheel arches, plenty of ground clearance, LED headlamps, and wraparound taillamps. There are currently little interior specifics, but the SUV may share the City’s equipment list in large part. It will have a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch free-standing touchscreen and ADAS features.

The Honda Elevate is anticipated to cost between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more expensive than its competitors. Honda intends to produce 8,000 of the SUVs every month in India, with a sizable percentage going towards exports. Nearer to the Elevate’s June debut, more information will be available.
