BMW India has recently launched the facelifted version of the X5 at a starting price of Rs 93.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The updated X5 is available in both petrol and diesel engine options, featuring a mild-hybrid system, and comes in M Sport and xLine trims.

In terms of design, the X5 facelift showcases a reprofiled front bumper with an optional illuminated grille (exclusive to the X5 40i petrol variant). The headlights have been redesigned with BMW’s new signature LED daytime running lamps. The profile remains largely unchanged, except for the updated design of the 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the X5 facelift features redesigned tail-lights.

Inside the cabin, the major update is the introduction of a twin-screen panel that houses a 14.9-inch infotainment screen running BMW’s iDrive 8 operating system, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The drive selector now adopts a glass toggle switch, similar to other recent BMW models. The X5 facelift offers additional features such as a Harmon Kardon music system, heads-up display (on M Sport trims), ambient lighting, and various seating options based on the trim.

The X5 facelift comes equipped with an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite, including cruise control, attentiveness assist, parking assist with a 360-degree camera, reverse assist, remote parking via smartphone, and drive recording. Safety features include six airbags, dynamic stability control, and more.

Under the hood, the X5 facelift is offered with petrol and diesel engines, both featuring a 48V mild-hybrid system. The xDrive 40i variant is powered by a 3.0-litre, straight-six petrol engine generating 381hp and 520Nm of torque. The xDrive 30d variant is equipped with a 3.0-litre, straight-six diesel engine producing 286hp and 650Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and an electric motor providing 12hp and 200Nm of torque. The petrol version claims a 0-100kph acceleration time of 5.4 seconds, while the diesel version claims 6.1 seconds. The top speed is claimed at 250kph for the petrol and 233kph for the diesel.

In terms of competition, the BMW X5 facelift rivals vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Land Rover Discovery, Lexus RX, and Volvo XC90.
