Ducati has unveiled the Desmo450 EDS, marking a significant milestone as the Italian manufacturer’s first modern enduro motorcycle. Developed from the competition-focused Desmo450 MX, the new machine brings Ducati’s racing expertise into the demanding world of enduro, combining lightweight engineering, advanced electronics, and a specially tuned desmodromic single-cylinder engine.
Designed to tackle challenging trails, technical climbs, and long-distance off-road adventures, the Desmo450 EDS receives a range of dedicated updates over the motocross-focused MX model. It features a new 8.5-litre fuel tank integrated within an aluminium perimeter frame, along with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels wrapped in Metzeler Six Days Extreme tyres for improved grip and stability across varied terrain.
Purpose-Built Enduro Chassis

The motorcycle retains Ducati’s lightweight aluminium perimeter frame architecture but has been re-engineered with revised engine mounts to achieve the ideal stiffness required for enduro riding. Weighing less than 9 kg and constructed from just 11 components, the frame utilises cast, forged, and extruded aluminium elements to achieve a balance between rigidity, durability, and low weight.
Suspension duties are handled by Showa, which developed a dedicated 49 mm front fork with 310 mm of travel specifically for the Desmo450 EDS. The setup, developed with the support of multiple enduro world champions and European Supercross champion Antoine Meo, is paired with a progressive-link rear shock to provide improved traction, stability, and rider confidence on demanding terrain.

Braking performance comes from a Brembo setup featuring a two-piston floating front calliper and a single-piston rear calliper, paired with Galfer discs measuring 260 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear.
Redesigned Desmodromic Engine
Powering the Desmo450 EDS is a heavily revised single-cylinder engine featuring Ducati’s signature desmodromic valve actuation. Compared to the Desmo450 MX, the engine receives a smaller 42 mm throttle body, dedicated camshafts, revised piston compression, a redesigned exhaust system, and a crankshaft assembly with greater inertia.
These changes are aimed at delivering stronger low and mid-range torque, smoother throttle response, and better control over technical terrain while retaining the ability to deliver high-revving performance. The motorcycle also receives a six-speed gearbox with enduro-specific ratios, featuring a shorter first gear for technical sections and a taller sixth gear for efficient high-speed riding.
Advanced Electronics and Adaptive Maintenance
For competitive riders, Ducati offers a Performance Racing Kit that unlocks a sophisticated Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system with four intervention levels, along with Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, Quickshifter, and configurable riding modes through the Ducati X-Link smartphone app.

A standout feature is Ducati’s Adaptive Maintenance system, which uses an algorithm to monitor real-time engine stress, riding conditions, and component wear to calculate personalized service intervals. The MID service, including piston replacement and valve clearance inspection, is scheduled between 90 and 120 hours, while a complete FULL engine overhaul is expected between 180 and 240 hours, depending on usage.
Built for Serious Off-Road Riders
The Desmo450 EDS comes standard with enduro-specific protection, including hand guards, engine guards, and reinforced clutch and alternator covers. A Ducati-inspired LED headlight, LCD instrumentation, and a range of Ducati Performance accessories, including Akrapovič exhaust options, further enhance the motorcycle’s capabilities and customisation potential.
Ducati has confirmed that the Desmo450 EDS will arrive at selected dealerships in India in the first quarter of 2027. With its combination of racing-derived technology, innovative engineering, and premium components, the Desmo450 EDS opens a completely new chapter for Ducati in the world of enduro motorcycling.
