Performance and powertrain

The highlight of the new Duster range is the Turbo TCe 160 petrol engine producing 163PS and 280Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT automatic transmission tuned specifically for Indian driving conditions.

Renault says the SUV’s ride and handling have been validated by IDIADA, with the chassis engineered for stability and comfort across varying road surfaces. Early demand indicates strong customer preference for the Turbo TCe 160, which accounts for over 90 % of petrol bookings.

Renault is also introducing an E-Tech Strong Hybrid variant combining a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 1.4kWh battery. The company claims the hybrid can operate in EV mode for up to 80 per cent of city driving conditions, offering improved efficiency without compromising performance. Renault confirmed hybrid allocation for 2026 is already fully booked, with deliveries expected around Diwali.
