Vietnamese automaker VinFast has made its landmark entry into the Indian market with the launch of its first locally manufactured premium electric SUVs—the VF 6 and VF 7. Both models are produced at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, and mark VinFast’s ambition to become a key player in India’s fast-growing EV space.

Positioned as smart, connected, and family-friendly electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7 have been engineered to meet the needs of Indian consumers, offering a mix of performance, premium features, advanced safety tech, and long driving range.

VinFast VF 6: Compact and Premium

The VF 6 is a premium compact electric SUV with a 59.6 kWh battery, fast charging (10–70% in 25 minutes), and ARAI-certified range of up to 468 km. It features a 2,730 mm wheelbase, 190 mm ground clearance, and comes in three variants—Earth, Wind, and Wind Infinity.

  • VF 6 Earth: 130 kW power, 250 Nm torque, multiple drive modes, 12.9-inch infotainment screen, powered driver seat.

  • VF 6 Wind: 150 kW power, 310 Nm torque, 0–100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, ventilated seats, dual-zone AC with air filtration, ADAS Level 2, 18-inch alloys.

  • Wind Infinity: Adds a panoramic glass roof.

Standard kit includes LED projector headlamps, 7 airbags, 360-degree surround view monitor, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and connected car tech.

VinFast VF 7: Sporty and Sophisticated

Larger and more premium, the VF 7 measures over 4.5 metres in length with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. Offered in five variants—Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, and Sky Infinity—it comes with FWD and AWD options and two battery packs.

  • VF 7 Earth: 130 kW power, 250 Nm torque, 59.6 kWh battery with 24-minute fast charging, black vegan leather interiors.

  • VF 7 Wind: 150 kW power, 310 Nm torque, 70.8 kWh battery, 532 km range, ADAS Level 2, driver monitoring system, ventilated seats.

  • VF 7 Sky: Dual-motor AWD with 260 kW power, 500 Nm torque, 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

  • Infinity trims: Add panoramic glass roofs.

ARAI-certified range extends up to 532 km, depending on variant.

Ecosystem, Network, and Commitment

VinFast has built an extensive EV ecosystem in India, partnering with RoadGrid, myTVS, Global Assure, and BatX Energies for charging, service, and battery recycling solutions. Financing options with leading banks are also part of the package.

The company aims to set up 35 dealerships and 26 workshops across 27 cities by end-2025, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Lucknow. Its Thoothukudi plant, located near the port, is strategically positioned to cater to both domestic and export markets.
