From Affalterbach to “Affasterbach”: Mercedes-AMG Unleashes the CONCEPT AMG GT XX in Full-Throttle Style
Mercedes-AMG just turned up the volume on performance and electrification with a wild one-day transformation of its hometown Affalterbach — cheekily renamed “Affasterbach” — to unveil the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, a brutal and beautiful glimpse into the brand’s electric future.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of southern Germany, this wasn’t just any car launch — it was a festival of horsepower, heritage, and high-tech innovation. With celebrities from sports, fashion, music, and entertainment in attendance, including Roger Federer, will.i.am, Kevin Trapp, and Alicia Keys, the event fused the energy of an F1 pit lane with the spirit of a block party. Even a gas station was transformed into a mock Grand Prix grid, complete with checkered flags and roaring AMG legends.
At the center of the spectacle was the world premiere of the CONCEPT AMG GT XX — a four-door electric super sedan previewing the first series-production car based on AMG’s new dedicated electric platform (AMG.EA). Designed entirely in-house, it’s equipped with three axial flux motors that produce over 1,360 hp (1,000+ kW) and backed by an all-new high-performance battery, promising hyper-fast charging (850 kW+) thanks to technology developed in collaboration with Alpitronic.
A New Era of Electric Madness
With a charging current of up to 1,000 amps, this concept doesn’t just match internal combustion power—it threatens to leave it in the dust. The axial flux motors aren’t just for show either; they’re ultra-compact, ultra-powerful, and designed to keep delivering brutal acceleration without fading under pressure.
Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, put it best:

The night also saw actor Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter from Suits) unveiled as the new Mercedes-AMG brand ambassador, joining Mercedes-AMG F1 stars George Russell, Kimi Antonelli, and Valtteri Bottas on stage for a deep dive into AMG’s electric ambitions.
