Volkswagen India has introduced the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition, a special edition of the Taigun, in an effort to boost sales during the festive season. Priced at Rs 16.3 lakh, this limited-edition model is aimed at offering some unique features while maintaining the same price as the standard GT trim.
The GT Edge Trail Edition focuses primarily on cosmetic enhancements. It sports a ‘Trail’ badge on the tailgate, and special decals on the rear fenders, doors, and C-pillars. It also features functional roof rails, blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels, and red-finished front brake calipers. Buyers can choose from exterior paint options, including Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver, and Candy White.
Inside the vehicle, the key distinction lies in the seat upholstery, which is black with contrasting red stitching and includes the “Trail” embossing. In terms of features, it offers the same equipment as the Taigun GT trim, which includes a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless phone connectivity and charging, automatic headlamps, a rear camera, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), among others.
However, certain premium features available in the standard GT trim are not included in this limited edition. These missing features comprise ventilated and powered front seats, a sunroof, cruise control, a fully digital instrument cluster, full LED headlamps, and six airbags. The Trail Edition does come with the addition of a dashcam that can record external and internal visuals and display them on the built-in 2-inch IPS LCD display.
The Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is only available with the 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission.
Priced at Rs 16.3 lakh, the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is positioned at the same price point as the mid-spec GT trim it is based on. This limited edition model is Rs 2.06 lakh cheaper than the more expensive GT Edge Limited Edition, which is based on the top-spec GT Plus variant.
