Once again, the Tata Nexon has proven its mettle by securing a 5-star rating from Global NCAP, this time under even stricter regulations implemented in 2022. Notably, this achievement follows its previous 5-star rating earned back in 2018.
Facelift Influence
The most recent Nexon facelift, launched in September 2023, was among the latest batch of vehicles subjected to rigorous testing by the road safety organization, alongside the Harrier and Safari facelifts.

Future Considerations
According to Mohan Savarkar, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ chief product officer, participation in BNCAP tests is being contemplated. Both the Harrier and Safari had already undergone Bharat NCAP testing, securing 5-star ratings.
Validity and Scope
The 5-star GNCAP rating applies to Nexons manufactured after August 8, 2023, specifically for ICE versions. The potential crash testing of the Nexon EV is also under consideration, as mentioned by Savarkar.

Impressive Safety Metrics
The Nexon’s performance in GNCAP’s assessments showcases its exemplary safety standards, particularly in adult and child occupant protection. It achieved commendable scores, albeit slightly lower than the Harrier and Safari.
Notable Achievements
Global NCAP highlights the Nexon’s remarkable scores, positioning it as one of the top performers in their ‘Safer Cars For India’ initiative. The SUV excelled in various impact tests, exhibiting notable improvements compared to its predecessor, especially in child occupant protection.

Comparison with Harrier and Safari
While the Nexon’s ratings are impressive, they slightly trail behind those of the Harrier and Safari facelifts, which also attained 5-star ratings in both AOP and COP in GNCAP tests, alongside Bharat NCAP accolades.
Enhanced Safety Features
The Nexon’s safety enhancements, including six airbags, ESC, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX anchors, and a passenger airbag disabling switch, have significantly contributed to its outstanding safety performance. Additionally, it meets stringent requirements for pedestrian protection according to UN127 and GTR9 standards.
