Tata has unveiled its first Electric SUV, Nexon EV. Tata earlier this year told us about how they have been testing the Nexon EV in the harshest of terrains including Leh, Spiti Valley and the deserts of Rajasthan.

Tata has also ensured that it will be as good in terms of safety and built like the combustion engine models. It will be available in 3 colours Teal Blue, Moonlit Silver and Glacier white.

Design & Styling

Nexon EV is based on IMPACT 2.0 design language. It gets a sleek headlamp and fog lamp design along with a chrome line running all from one headlamp to the other which Tata calls as a Humanity Line upfront. This makes it look fresher and helps in improving road presence.

On the inside also it is different from the ongoing model. The instrument cluster and the steering looks similar to what we have seen on Altroz.

All the white elements from Nexon have been changed to Blue. It also gets Tri Arrow design in the lower half of the front grille which looks quite good.

Features

Like the outgoing model, Nexon EV will also be loaded with features to the brim. It will get a 7 inch touchscreen system sporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It will be mated to 8 speakers which offers excellent sound quality.

It also gets 35 Connected Car features which can be used via mobile phone.

Performance

Nexon EV is powered by Zipttron Technology which assures great performance along with great range. The electric motor produces 129PS of power and 245NM of torque, it is powered by a 30.2kWh battery. The torque is produced from stand still which helps it reach 0-100KMPh in just 9.9 secs. It delivers a range of 300 Kms on a single charge.

The battery pack is liquid cooled and also gets IP67 rating certification which ensures that it is well adapted to Indian climate conditions. It also supports fast charging using which it can be charged up to 80% in just 60 mins. Also, it can be charged using any 15AMP plug.

It gets driving modes like Drive & Sport that allows user to maximise the range or performance. It also gets driver assist features like Hill Ascent/ descent assist, creep function and regenerative braking to charge the battery.

Pricing and Launch

The launch will happen in the month of January 2020. Expected price is 15-17lakhs ex showroom Delhi. It will be offered in 3 variants namely, XZ+, LUX and XM.

Tata will be offering warranty for 1,60,000 KMs or 8 years on battery and Motor.
