Mercedes-Benz introduced the V8 engine on the G-Wagon in 1993 with the 500 GE model. Now, they have unveiled the G 500 Final Edition to commemorate three decades of the original V8 engine in the G 500. This edition will be limited to 1,500 units worldwide and will be produced from September 2023 to March 2024. While the G 500 Final Edition marks the end of the V8 engine in the G 500, the G 63 AMG version will continue production for a few more years.

The G 500 Final Edition comes in three exclusive color options: Obsidian Black, Opalith White Magno, and Olive Magno. Each color is limited to 500 units. It features 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, and the design varies based on the color chosen. The interior is adorned with Nappa leather, including the cargo compartment and seat adjustment panel. The seats have a two-tone leather design, and there is a Burmester hifi surround sound system.

In addition to the G 500 Final Edition, Mercedes has also introduced the G 63 Grand Edition, limited to 1,000 units. This edition features an exclusive Manufaktur Night Black Magno color with gold graphics. It rides on larger 22-inch AMG wheels finished in gold. The interior is wrapped in Nappa leather, and gold accents are present on various details.

Mercedes

Both the G 500 Final Edition and the G 63 Grand Edition are powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The G 500 Final Edition produces 421hp and 610Nm of torque, while the G 63 Grand Edition delivers 585hp and 850Nm of torque. Both versions come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

Mercedes-Benz plans to discontinue the V8 engine in the regular G-Wagon after the Final Edition Series. It is expected to be replaced by a smaller six-cylinder unit in the next generation. The lineup will also include an all-electric version called the EQG, which will retain the same iconic styling.

Mercedes

The allocation of the limited-run G-Wagons for India has not been announced yet, but there is already a long waiting period for the G 63 model. Mercedes has introduced the G 400d in India to help reduce the waiting time for the higher-spec model.
