Heritage Customs, a Dutch coachbuilder, has initiated the production of a unique Land Rover Defender convertible at its factory in the Netherlands. Only five units of this bespoke Defender convertible, dubbed the Valiance Convertible, will be crafted.

Customized Features and Design
Based on the latest L663-generation Defender 90, the Valiance Convertible undergoes extensive modifications, including the addition of a sixth seat, bespoke leather upholstery, forged wheels, and other interior and exterior enhancements. The vehicle boasts Sunbeam Yellow paint with black accents, such as the roll cage and front bonnet plates. Its fabric top is handcrafted and electronically operated. Inside, black quilted upholstery with yellow stitching adds to the bespoke feel, alongside aluminum paneling and a centrally positioned additional passenger seat in the front row.

Cost and Previous Works
According to reports, the customization package alone costs GBP 58,000 (approximately Rs 59 lakh), excluding any alterations to the powertrain, which remains in its factory configuration as per the customer’s preference. Niels van Roij, co-owner of the company, expresses that the convertible design pays homage to the Defender’s iconic heritage and body style, particularly its soft-top variant.

Innovative Coachbuilding
This venture into unconventional coach-built models is not new for van Roij and Heritage Customs. Previously, they have introduced unique creations like a Rolls-Royce Wraith-based shooting brake and an estate-bodied Tesla Model S.

Future Plans
Heritage Customs hints at an upcoming drop-top conversion, described as the “next iteration of the Heritage Customs Valiance Convertible,” set to be unveiled in the coming months.
