Audi Makes Formula 1 Debut at 2026 Australian Grand Prix
Audi marked a historic milestone on March 8, 2026, as the German automaker officially debuted in Formula One at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Ahead of the race weekend at the Albert Park Circuit, drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto unveiled the new Audi RS 5, the first RS model to feature a hybrid powertrain. The electrified performance car reflects the technology direction of modern Formula 1 machines, where a significant portion of power comes from electric systems.

Adding to the celebrations, Audi Tradition showcased the legendary Audi R8 endurance racer, driven by former Le Mans winner Allan McNish, highlighting the brand’s rich racing heritage.
According to Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, the Formula 1 entry represents a new chapter for the company as it aims to compete for world championship titles by 2030 while continuing its legacy of innovation in motorsport.
