Lexus has launched the fifth-gen RX hybrid SUV in India which was recently unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. The prices starting at Rs 95.80 lakh for the RX350h Luxury variant, and going up to Rs 1.18 crore for the higher-performance RX500h F-Sport+ variant (all prices, ex-showroom, India)
In terms of design the Lexus RX gets a futuristic design with an angular design language, the SUV features a sculpted bonnet, signature spindle grille, sleek LED headlights with boomerang-shaped DRLs, black roof rails, 19-inch alloy wheels, a roof-mounted spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and connected LED taillamps. Speaking dimensionally, it is 4,890mm in lenght, 1,920mm in width and 1,650mm in height. The new Lexus RX is now 25mm wider than the previous generation.
The SUV gets a luxurious cabin based on the ‘Tazuna’ or human-centered design philosophy. It is offered with premium leather upholstery in a choice of six colors, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a head-up display, a wireless charger, and a 14.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Moreover, the Lexus RX comes equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+ which includes ADAS features like Lane Departure Alert, Lane Keep Assist and Dynamic Cruise Control.
The new Lexus RX is available in two powertrain options. First is the RX350h, powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine and in combination with the electric motor puts down 250hp and 242Nm of torque. Secondly the RX500h F-Sport+ gets a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. In combination with the electric motor produces 371hp and 460Nm of torque. Lexus RX rivals the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Range Rover Velar, Audi Q7 and Jaguar F-Pace.
