The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R has recently hit the Indian market, sporting a price tag of Rs 8.49 lakh, which is notably higher than the Versys 650 adventure tourer and just Rs 71,000 less than the larger Z900 street naked, both of which also come with inline-four engines. Speaking of the engine, the ZX-4R is equipped with a 399cc liquid-cooled inline-four motor that pumps out an impressive 80hp (or 77hp without ram air assistance). However, its peak power is achieved at a high 14,500rpm, emphasizing the need to rev it hard for optimal performance, while its torque figure of 39Nm is on par with the KTM 390 Duke.
In terms of its underpinnings, the Indian market receives the base variant of the ZX-4R, featuring a trellis frame, an upside-down fork, and a monoshock for suspension. Braking is managed by twin 290mm discs upfront with Nissin four-piston radial calipers and a 220mm rear disc, all equipped with dual-channel ABS. The bike also comes equipped with a 4.3-inch Bluetooth-enabled color TFT dashboard, offering turn-by-turn navigation and four preset riding modes, including Sport, Road, Rain, and a customizable Rider mode for adjusting traction control and power settings.
