After a prolonged anticipation marked by numerous teasers, Ather has officially launched the 450 Apex at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.89 lakh. Positioned as the pinnacle of the current platform’s capabilities within safe thermodynamic limits, the 450 Apex comes with distinctive features.

Key highlights include a special Indium blue color for the body panels, transparent rear panels showcasing the bright orange chassis, and the introduction of a belt cover on the Apex, soon to be available on all Ather models. Equipped with the same 3.7kWh battery pack as the 450X, the 450 Apex boasts an increased claimed IDC range of 157km, attributed to the new regenerative braking system featuring the innovative ‘Magic Twist’ function. This allows users to decelerate the e-scooter by twisting the accelerator 15 degrees backward without using the brakes.
The motor on the 450 Apex delivers a peak power of 7kW, and it stands out as the only model in Ather’s lineup to feature the Warp+ mode. With Warp+, the scooter achieves a remarkable 0-40kph time of 2.9 seconds and quicker 40-80kph times compared to the 450X. Additionally, the 450 Apex is the sole Ather EV capable of reaching a claimed top speed of 100kph in this high-performance mode.
Maintaining consistency with the 450 platform, the seat height, wheelbase, tyre sizes, and ground clearance remain unchanged. The 450 Apex introduces the new enclosed belt drive system, set to become a standard feature on all future Ather models, although retrofitting it to existing ones is not possible.
Ather acknowledges the premium pricing of the 450 Apex, priced Rs 21,000 higher than the top-spec 450X with the 3.7kWh battery and Pro pack. Co-founder Tarun Mehta emphasizes that the 450 Apex is more of a passion project than a commercially targeted product. Production will be limited based on demand, with manufacturing planned until October 2024. Bookings are open, and deliveries are scheduled to commence in March 2024.
