Tata Motors Starts Delivering 148 New Starbus EVs to BMTC, Powering Bengaluru’s Green Commute
Tata Motors is adding more spark to Bengaluru’s electric mobility push. The auto giant has kicked off deliveries of 148 all-new Tata Starbus EVs to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), taking the city’s green fleet to the next level. These new e-buses join an already proven lineup of 921 electric buses buzzing across the city’s roads, reinforcing BMTC’s shift toward sustainable public transport.
Flagged off by Karnataka’s Transport Minister Shri Ramalinga Reddy and BMTC MD Shri Ramachandran R. (IAS), the fresh batch of zero-emission buses will be run and maintained by TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a Tata Motors subsidiary, under a 12-year contract.
Speaking on the rollout, Shri Ramachandran R. shared, “Tata Motors’ e-buses have earned the city’s trust by delivering consistent uptime and comfortable service. With this new fleet, we’re expanding cleaner, greener transport access to even more parts of Bengaluru.”
Adding to the excitement, Anand S., VP and Head of TML Smart City Mobility Ltd., said, “This milestone highlights our long-term commitment to BMTC. With over 6 crore km clocked and best-in-class uptime already under our belt, we’re ready to keep delivering efficient and reliable e-mobility solutions.”
The Tata Starbus EVs are no ordinary buses — they’re purpose-built for city life, packed with modern features like Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Brake Distribution, and an Integrated Transport System. With a 35-seater low-floor layout, they offer a comfortable, accessible ride for daily commuters. And thanks to zero tailpipe emissions, they’re already making a positive impact on Bengaluru’s air quality.
With this rollout, Tata Motors and BMTC continue proving that public transport can be high-tech, high-comfort, and planet-friendly, showing the rest of India what future-ready urban mobility looks like.
