SWITCH Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group and a global manufacturer of electric buses and light commercial vehicles, has unveiled the all-new SWITCH EiV9 at Prawaas 5.0, India’s premier multimodal transport exhibition. Designed for city operations, employee transportation and school mobility, the new 9-metre electric bus combines advanced technology, enhanced passenger comfort and lower operating costs to accelerate the adoption of sustainable public transport.
The new EiV9 has been developed with a strong focus on operational efficiency, reliability and total cost of ownership. SWITCH says the bus is engineered to help fleet operators transition seamlessly to electric mobility while improving profitability and delivering a superior passenger experience.
Speaking at the launch, Ganesh Mani, CEO, SWITCH Mobility, said the EiV9 strengthens the company’s presence across key public and institutional transport segments, where demand for 9-metre electric buses is expected to witness strong growth over the coming years. He added that the bus has been purpose-built to deliver higher efficiency, better passenger comfort, enhanced safety and lower operating costs.
Powering the SWITCH EiV9 is a Permanent Magnet Variable Reluctance (PMVR) electric motor producing up to 213 kW of peak power. The bus is available with multiple battery pack options to suit different operating requirements and features regenerative braking along with dual-gun CCS2 fast charging to maximise uptime and operational flexibility.
Passenger comfort has also been significantly enhanced with a spacious cabin, full front and rear air suspension, ergonomic seating layouts and individual USB charging ports. Staff transportation variants additionally offer premium pushback seats for improved comfort on longer journeys.
On the safety front, the EiV9 comes equipped with a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS), front and rear disc brakes, and a robust electric architecture designed to ensure dependable performance across varied operating conditions.
Alongside the new bus, SWITCH Mobility also introduced its #SwitchKaro campaign, encouraging businesses, fleet operators and institutions to embrace electric mobility by highlighting the environmental and economic advantages of zero-emission transportation.
The company also showcased its enhanced SWITCH EiV12 Intercity electric bus at the event. Designed for long-distance operations, the EiV12 features premium reclining seats, individual charging ports, floor-mounted LFP battery packs, air suspension, digital ORVMs, FDSS, dual-gun DC fast charging and the company’s connected SWITCH iON platform for real-time diagnostics, battery management and fleet monitoring.
With the launch of the EiV9 and continued expansion of its electric bus portfolio, SWITCH Mobility is reinforcing its commitment to delivering intelligent, efficient and commercially viable electric mobility solutions for India’s rapidly evolving transportation sector.
