Eicher Trucks & Buses Doubles Down on Green Drive This World Environment Day

New Delhi, June 5, 2025 – On the occasion of World Environment Day, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV)—makers of Eicher Trucks and Buses—reaffirmed its commitment to India’s Net Zero vision with a powerful sustainability-first approach that blends innovation, inclusivity, and industry-leading green practices.

From rolling out zero-emission electric trucks and buses to operating a cutting-edge Industry 4.0 plant in Bhopal, VECV is walking the talk when it comes to environmental stewardship. The Eicher Pro Planet Pro Business range is already plying roads across the country and showcases the company’s push toward green mobility solutions powered by electric, CNG, and LNG platforms.

One of the highlights? The Bhopal facility, which isn’t just high-tech—it’s also socially progressive. It’s India’s first CV plant based on Industry 4.0 principles, powered by AI-driven energy monitoring, and home to an all-women final assembly line for the new Eicher Pro X truck, setting a benchmark for both sustainability and gender inclusion.

Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VECV, said:
“With India’s Net Zero goal in mind, we’re building more than vehicles—we’re building the future of sustainable transport. Whether it’s EVs, LNG, hydrogen, or smart manufacturing, every step is a stride towards a cleaner tomorrow.”

Highlights of Eicher’s Green Mission:

  • Zero-emission fleet: Electric trucks and buses have been in operation since 2022

  • Alternate fuel ready: CNG, LNG, and electric options available now; hydrogen and fuel-cell tech on the radar

  • Smart Bhopal plant: AI-powered, energy-efficient, and water-resilient with a 52 million litre capacity reservoir

  • LED transition: 100% shift to LED lighting across all facilities, reducing energy intensity year-on-year

  • Sustainability goals:

    • 70% renewable energy by FY27

    • Water positive by 2030

    • Driving SDG-aligned projects focused on energy, waste, emissions, and diversity

With 2025 already a landmark year in Eicher’s sustainability playbook, the company is looking far beyond just compliance—it’s aiming to lead from the front as a responsible and future-forward commercial vehicle brand.
