Delhi has added a new chapter to its urban mobility story with India’s first electric double-decker sightseeing experience.

Electric mobility specialist SWITCH Mobility, the EV arm of Ashok Leyland and part of the Hinduja Group, has deployed its flagship SWITCH EiV 22 for the ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’ tour under a CSR initiative.

For the first time, residents and tourists can explore the capital aboard a fully electric, air-conditioned double-decker bus — blending nostalgia with zero-emission mobility.

A Curated Heritage Route Across New Delhi

The full-day ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’ experience begins at Dilli Haat – INA at 9:00 am and covers some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks. The route includes Vijay Chowk, a photography halt at Rashtrapati Bhavan, visits to the National Museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art, followed by the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya.

The tour concludes with an evening stop at India Gate and the National War Memorial, before returning to Dilli Haat – INA by 6:00 pm.

The initiative aims to offer an immersive, comfortable, and environmentally responsible way to experience Delhi’s heritage spine.

SWITCH EiV 22: Made in India, Engineered for the Future

At the heart of this experience is the SWITCH EiV 22 — India’s first and unique electric double-decker AC bus. Designed, developed, and manufactured in India, the bus carries a 231 kWh NMC battery pack delivering a claimed range of up to 250 km.

Built on a 650V architecture, it features dual-gun charging, liquid-cooled battery technology, a lightweight aluminium body, optimised seating for 65 passengers, and a wider rear door with a rear staircase layout. The model complies with FAME II norms, reinforcing its strong localisation credentials.

With electric double-deckers already operating in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, and Kerala, and 100 electric hop-on hop-off tourist buses running across 10 Indian cities, SWITCH Mobility continues to expand its footprint in clean public transport.

The ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’ electric double-decker is more than a sightseeing bus — it signals a confident step towards sustainable urban mobility in the National Capital.
