Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with THINK Gas, a leading City Gas Distribution company, to accelerate the adoption of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in long-haul and heavy-duty trucking across India.

The strategic partnership aims to build a robust LNG refueling ecosystem, improve infrastructure readiness, ensure fuel quality, and enable wider acceptance of LNG-powered commercial vehicles — a significant step toward cleaner, more sustainable freight operations.

As part of the collaboration, Tata Motors and THINK Gas will jointly identify key freight corridors and logistics clusters for LNG infrastructure expansion. THINK Gas will focus on maintaining high standards of fuel quality and supply reliability, while Tata Motors customers will enjoy exclusive benefits such as preferential pricing at THINK Gas LNG stations.

Commenting on the partnership, Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors, said:

“As India advances towards sustainable and efficient freight movement, LNG presents a compelling solution for long-haul and heavy-duty trucking. Through this partnership with THINK Gas, our goal is to strengthen ecosystem readiness – ensuring reliable access to refueling infrastructure and enabling fleet operators to adopt LNG with confidence. This collaboration marks another step forward in our commitment to advancing cleaner, future-ready mobility solutions for India’s commercial vehicle industry.”

Somil Garg, Senior Vice President and Business Head (LNG Fuel), THINK Gas, added:

“At THINK Gas, our aim is to make cleaner fuels accessible and affordable across India. Partnering with Tata Motors, a leader in advancing alternate-fuel mobility, will help us strategically scale our LNG expansion and build a robust, safe, and sustainable network nationwide.”

Tata Motors continues to lead the shift towards alternative fuel technologies, offering a comprehensive portfolio spanning battery electric, CNG, LNG, hydrogen internal combustion, and hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicles.

Meanwhile, THINK Gas currently operates 18 LCNG (Liquefied and Compressed Natural Gas) stations, with more under development. Its upcoming LCNG corridor is set to connect major industrial hubs, agricultural regions, and logistics centers, providing reliable LNG refueling access for fleets engaged in manufacturing, warehousing, exports, and agricultural supply chains.
