CEAT Launches ROCKRAD: Radial Tyre Engineered for Extreme Mining Terrains

CEAT, one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers, has unveiled ROCKRAD, its first radial tyre specifically engineered for the demanding needs of mining and rough terrain applications. With ROCKRAD, CEAT marks a significant leap in its Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) portfolio, setting its sights on one of the most extreme and performance-critical segments in the industry.

Tested across some of the toughest mining belts — from Barbil in Odisha to the unforgiving terrains of Indonesia — the ROCKRAD is built for load-haul operations in environments where only the toughest tyres survive. With superior durability, high traction, and longer service life, ROCKRAD is poised to accelerate the shift toward radialisation in a space traditionally dominated by bias tyres.

Key Features and Innovations:

  • S-Type Tread Pattern: Engineered for superior grip and even pressure distribution across rugged surfaces.

  • Advanced Sidewall Compound: Offers excellent cut resistance and flexibility for consistent long-term performance.

  • Enhanced Durability: Internal testing indicates approximately 7% better bead durability over leading competitors, along with improved heat dissipation and structural integrity.

Initially available in 11.00R20 size, ROCKRAD will be deployed across India’s major mining hubs, including Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Its longevity not only reduces operational downtime but also contributes to CEAT’s focus on sustainability by lowering material waste.

With ROCKRAD, CEAT continues to push boundaries in the commercial tyre sector, combining robust engineering with customer-centric innovation for specialised applications like mining and heavy-duty construction.
