Mahindra has recently unveiled the new XUV400, featuring a price range starting from Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 17.49 lakh for the top-spec EL Pro variant. The introductory prices are valid for deliveries until May 31, 2024. Bookings for the XUV400 Pro series commence tomorrow at 2 pm, requiring a Rs 21,000 deposit, with deliveries scheduled to commence from February 1.

While the vehicle retains its mechanical configuration, the major highlights of the update are centered around the dashboard and additional features. Notably, there are no significant styling changes. The refreshed model will be sold concurrently with the existing version until stocks last. Mahindra has introduced a new Nebula Blue color option for the XUV400.

The key feature update is the introduction of a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, leading to a significant redesign of the dashboard. The AC vents now flank the touchscreen, replacing the previous side positioning. The HVAC panel sees a redesign with two rotary dials and a new digital MID, while the interior adopts a black-and-beige dual-tone theme. Gloss black garnish is added to the passenger side of the dashboard, retaining subtle copper accents. The steering wheel is now a flat-bottom design, and the instrument binnacle remains unchanged, but a new 10.25-inch digital screen replaces analogue dials.

Both the infotainment and digital screens now run on Adrenox software, offering improved functionality compared to the older 7.0-inch interface. Additional features include dual-zone climate control with a memory function, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa connectivity, rear USB ports, and rear AC vents, addressing previous equipment list shortcomings.

Despite these updates, the XUV400 still faces stiff competition from the new Nexon EV, which boasts features like ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, 360-degree cameras, full-width LED light bands, and a larger infotainment screen on the top-spec variant.
In terms of the powertrain, the XUV400 EV remains mechanically unchanged. Both EC Pro and EL Pro variants come with either a 34.5kWh or a larger 39.4kWh battery. The EC Pro is equipped with a 3.3kW AC charger, while the EL Pro features a faster 7.2kW AC charger for both battery options. Claimed ranges are 375km and 456km for the 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh batteries, respectively, on the MIDC cycle. Both variants feature a front axle-mounted electric motor producing 150hp and 310Nm of torque, along with disc brakes on all four wheels, regenerative braking, and three drive modes.
