Tata has introduced the Punch EV in India with prices starting from Rs 10.99 lakh and going up to Rs 14.49 lakh. Bookings for the electric vehicle (EV) commenced earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 21,000. The Punch EV offers two battery options, comes in five variants, and provides the choice of a 7.2kW AC fast charger for long-range models at an additional cost of Rs 50,000. The Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ variants for both models can be equipped with a sunroof for an extra Rs 50,000.
Sharing design cues with its sibling, the Nexon EV, the Tata Punch EV is the first Tata electric vehicle to feature a frunk (front trunk), along with a split headlamp setup, LED light bar, and a distinctive alloy wheel design. It is built on Tata’s new Gen 2 architecture called Acti.EV, which will also be the foundation for upcoming Tata EVs and SUVs like the Curvv EV, Sierra EV, and Harrier EV.

The Punch EV is offered with two battery options: a 25kWh battery with a range of around 315km and a 35kWh battery providing approximately 421km of MIDC range. Charging options include a 3.3kW wall box charger, a 7.2kW fast charger, and DC fast charging, allowing 10-80 percent charging in 56 minutes with a 50kW fast charger. The Long Range variants generate 122hp and 190Nm, achieving 0-100kph in under 9.5 seconds, while the standard models feature an 82hp, 114Nm motor and take 13.5 seconds for the same acceleration.
The interior of the Punch EV showcases a premium design with a new dashboard layout, twin 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and the digital instrument display, and steering wheel paddles for regenerative braking control. Lower variants come with a 7-inch infotainment unit. The EV is equipped with various features, including ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, wireless phone charger, sunroof, cabin air purifier, and more. Safety features include six airbags, ABS, ESC, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, and others.
Competing against models like the MG Comet, Citroen eC3, and Tata’s own Tiago EV, the Punch EV presents a formidable offering in the electric vehicle segment.
