Tata Motors has unveiled its first model for 2024, the Punch EV, marking the brand’s fourth all-electric car and second electric SUV. Bookings are open with a reservation amount of Rs 21,000 through Tata’s EV-only outlets, select standard showrooms, and the company’s online portal. The Punch EV is the first model built on the Gen 2 EV architecture, known as acti.ev by Tata.

Drawing design inspiration from the Nexon EV, the Punch EV features an updated grille and bumper design, resembling a scaled-down Nexon EV. Notable exterior elements include a full-width light bar, split headlamp setup, and a charging socket at the front. The rear boasts a Y-shaped brake light setup, roof-mounted spoiler, and a dual-tone bumper design. The Punch EV is equipped with new 16-inch alloys, disc brakes on all four wheels, and is the first Tata EV to include a frunk.

While specific technical details are yet to be disclosed, the Punch EV offers two variants – Standard and Long Range – expected to have 25kWh and 35kWh battery packs, respectively. The modular platform is designed for a range between 300km to 600km, with the Punch EV likely falling within the 300km to 400km range. The interior features a layered dashboard, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel. Top-spec Punch EV models include a 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, electronic parking brake, connected car tech, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, cruise control, and the Arcade.ev app suite. Safety features encompass six airbags, ABS, ESC, blind view monitor, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, and an SOS function.

The Punch EV is offered in multiple trims, with the standard variant available in five trims and the Long Range variant in three. Both variants offer five dual-tone paint options. Positioned between the Nexon EV MR and Tiago EV MR, the Punch EV is aimed at the Citroen eC3, with an estimated price range of Rs 10 lakh-13 lakh, ex-showroom.
