Tata Motors has debuted its highly anticipated Curvv SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, signaling a bold entry into the competitive midsize SUV segment. Boasting striking aesthetics and a versatile lineup of powertrain options, the Curvv promises to redefine the driving experience for urban adventurers and enthusiasts alike.

Design Updates:
The Curvv’s design language is a harmonious blend of sophistication and ruggedness, setting it apart from its upright competitors like the Creta and Seltos. Notable enhancements include an elongated LED light bar reminiscent of the Nexon facelift, a revamped grille featuring a combination of piano black and body-colored finishes, and an enlarged front bumper with redesigned headlamp and foglamp housings. The addition of a prominent faux skid plate and vertically positioned air inlets on the rear bumper underscores the Curvv’s adventurous spirit. Moreover, the incorporation of flush door handles and wing mirrors mounted on the doors accentuates its modern appeal.

Dimensions and Powertrains:
In terms of dimensions, the Curvv measures 4,308mm in length, 1,810mm in width, and 1,630mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,560mm—a configuration perfectly suited for navigating both urban streets and rugged terrain. With a spacious 422-litre boot, the Curvv ensures ample storage space for luggage and gear, making it an ideal companion for long journeys.

The Curvv will offer a diverse range of powertrain options to cater to varying consumer preferences. The initial launch will feature the Curvv EV, leveraging Tata’s expertise in electric mobility to deliver an eco-friendly driving experience. Following the EV variant, diesel and petrol engine options will be introduced, providing customers with a choice between fuel efficiency and performance. The diesel variant will be powered by the trusted 1.5-litre engine from the Nexon lineup, ensuring robust performance and reliability. Meanwhile, the petrol variant will feature a turbocharged 1.2-litre engine generating 125hp and 225Nm of torque, promising an exhilarating driving experience. Additionally, a CNG option will be available, catering to environmentally conscious drivers.

Transmission choices will include manual, AMT, and DCT automatic, offering versatility and convenience across different driving scenarios. Whether navigating busy city streets or embarking on off-road adventures, the Curvv aims to deliver a seamless and enjoyable driving experience for every driver.

Launch Timeline:
Production of the Curvv EV is scheduled to commence around April this year at Tata Motors’ state-of-the-art facility in Ranjangaon, near Pune. With an ambitious annual sales target of approximately 48,000 units, Tata is poised to make a significant impact in the fiercely competitive SUV market. The Curvv EV is expected to contribute 12,000 units to this target, reflecting the growing demand for electric vehicles in India’s automotive landscape.
