The Range Rover Sport has been available in India for approximately 18 months, initially offering 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel mild-hybrid engines. Recently, Land Rover introduced the prices for the flagship Range Rover Sport SV variant and the 3.0-litre plug-in hybrid petrol on its India website, with deliveries expected to take 6-8 months.

The flagship Range Rover Sport SV boasts a powerful 635hp, 4.4-litre V8 engine sourced from BMW. With 800Nm of torque and an 8-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels, it accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 290kph. The SV variant features subtle design enhancements, including a wider track, increased camber, a revised front bumper and grille, side skirts, and a rear bumper with dual twin exhausts, catering to the enhanced cooling requirements of the V8 engine and brakes.

Internally, the SV model offers new seats with integrated head restraints, a redesigned steering wheel, and an SV button for personalized drive modes. The rear seats also incorporate integrated head restraints.

Additionally, the Range Rover Sport now includes a plug-in hybrid variant equipped with a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder engine coupled with a 38.2kWh battery pack. The total system output is 460hp and 660Nm of torque, allowing the hybrid to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 5.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 225kph. The battery takes five hours to fully charge with a 7kW AC charger and provides an electric-only range of 123km (WLTP cycle). This powertrain is exclusive to the top-spec Autobiography trim and comes with various features, including digital LED headlights,  panoramic sunroof, 22-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, and advanced seating options.

The Range Rover Sport SV competes with other super SUVs in India, such as the Lamborghini Urus, Audi RS Q8, and Aston Martin DBX. Meanwhile, the PHEV variant currently lacks a direct competitor in the Indian market.
