Czech start-up MW Motors has unveiled the Spartan 2.0, an all-electric SUV based on the Force Gurkha platform, boasting a range of 240km.

Unique Features of the Force Gurkha-based Spartan 2.0
MW Motors collaborated with Force Motors to utilize the bodyshell, ladder frame chassis, suspension, off-road equipment, and interior components for the Spartan 2.0. The battery, sourced from a Chinese firm, powers the vehicle, with MW Motors handling all necessary modifications.

EV Powertrain and Performance
Equipped with a single motor producing 176hp and an impressive 1,075Nm of torque, the Spartan 2.0 offers manually selectable two- or four-wheel drive with high and low ranges. The vehicle includes manually locking differentials, hill descent control, and a 57.4kWh battery pack, enabling a range suitable for everyday use.

Charging and Utility
Charging capabilities of up to 90kW allow for a 20-80 percent charge in just over half an hour, with bi-directional charging supporting external power supply needs. Despite its smaller size compared to traditional off-roaders, the Spartan 2.0 offers excellent manoeuvrability and robust capabilities, with a kerb weight of 2,350kg and impressive load and towing capacities.

Interior and Commercial Configuration
The interior of the Spartan 2.0 closely resembles the Gurkha, featuring durable yet well-equipped elements such as cloth-upholstered adjustable seats, electric windows, air conditioning, digital instrument display, and touchscreen infotainment. Sold as a commercial vehicle in select European markets and the UK, it is strictly configured as a two-seater SUV.

Potential for India Market
While there’s no official word on a Gurkha-based EV for the Indian market, it could offer a rugged alternative to the Thar EV. Meanwhile, both Force Motors and Mahindra plan to introduce diesel-powered, five-door versions of the Thar and Gurkha, respectively, this year.
