MG Motor India has revamped the lineup of its Astor SUV, introducing a new entry-level Sprint variant with a starting price of Rs 9.98 lakh. The midsize SUV, rivalling the Creta, now offers a more affordable entry point and reaches a top-spec Savvy Pro variant priced at Rs 17.88 lakh. The Astor has received additional features on its top-tier trim, making it the most competitively priced midsize SUV in the Indian market.
The 2024 Astor is now available in five trims: Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro, replacing the previous Style, Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy trims. The new Sprint variant, exclusively equipped with the naturally aspirated petrol engine, brings down the entry price significantly by Rs 83,000 compared to the previous Style variant.

The 2024 Astor comes with added features such as ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and auto-dimming IRVM. Even the entry-level Astor Sprint is well-equipped, featuring LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, dual-tone interior, soft-touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. The i-Smart infotainment software has also been updated with new connected features.
In terms of powertrain, the Astor remains unchanged with a 110hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual or eight-step CVT automatic gearbox. The turbo-petrol engine, generating 140hp and 220Nm from a 1.3-litre three-cylinder, is now exclusive to the top-spec Savvy Pro trim and utilizes a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Competing with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Citroen C5 Aircross, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun, MG aims to enhance the appeal of the Astor by introducing customer-centric features across all variants.
