Made-in-India New Nissan Magnite Earns 5-Star Global NCAP Safety Rating
Scores 5 stars in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 3 stars in Child Occupant Protection (COP); emerges as one of the safest SUVs in its class across India and South Africa.

In a significant milestone for Nissan’s commitment to safety, the Made-in-India New Nissan Magnite has secured a 5-star overall passenger safety rating from the Global New Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP). Tested in its right-hand drive (RHD) version, the compact SUV achieved a 5-star rating in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a 3-star rating in Child Occupant Protection (COP), placing it among the safest vehicles in its segment in India and South Africa.
Manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai facility and exported to over 65 countries, the Magnite’s performance in GNCAP’s latest crash tests underlines Nissan Motor India’s focus on delivering globally benchmarked safety to customers, both domestic and international.
Engineered on the enhanced CMF-A+ platform, the new Magnite comes equipped with over 40 standard safety features, including:
-
6 Airbags
-
ABS with EBD
-
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
-
Traction Control System (TCS)
-
Hill Start Assist (HSA)

The Magnite’s reinforced body structure, combined with Nissan’s updated design language and premium features, further enhances occupant safety while maintaining a bold and modern SUV aesthetic.
GNCAP’s updated testing protocol evaluates frontal and side impact protection, electronic stability control, pedestrian protection, and side pole impact tests—key criteria for achieving top safety scores. The New Magnite’s impressive performance across these categories is a testament to its build quality and engineering.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, shared his thoughts on the achievement:
“We are thrilled that the New Nissan Magnite has received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Safety has always been central to our vehicle development, and this rating reinforces our ‘One Car, One World’ philosophy — bringing world-class, safe, and high-quality cars to Indian and global customers.”
Beyond crash protection, Nissan has also prioritized everyday safety by offering features such as three-point seatbelts for all occupants, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, and child locks as standard across all variants.
Launched in October 2024, the new Magnite continues to build on its success with 20+ best-in-segment features and a comprehensive safety suite of 55+ features, reinforcing its position as one of the most compelling offerings in the sub-4m SUV segment.
With a Global NCAP 5-star safety rating under its belt, the New Nissan Magnite sets a new benchmark for compact SUVs in India, proving that safety, performance, and style can go hand-in-hand in an accessible, made-in-India package.
