Odometer rollback, the practice of reducing mileage to artificially inflate a vehicle’s value, has long plagued India’s used car ecosystem. According to CARS24’s internal study of over one million vehicles, one in every 20 cars on Indian roads shows signs of tampering. This malpractice not only misleads buyers but can also lead to warranty rejections, insurance claim denials, unexpected repair bills, and even legal complications.

Since its early rollout, the new tool has conducted more than 75,000 checks, flagging over 10,000 tampered vehicles with an accuracy rate of 85%.
