Shlok Ghorpade Secures 2nd Overall at MRF Mogrip Supercross FMSCI Championship in Coimbatore

Battling scorching conditions and a challenging track, Shlok Ghorpade delivered a remarkable performance in Round 2 of the MRF Mogrip Supercross FMSCI Championship, claiming second overall in front of thousands of spectators.

The result was even more impressive given Shlok’s recent return from an arm injury. With just a week of training before race day, his preparation was far from ideal, but determination and racecraft kept him in podium contention.

Starting from the outer gate, Shlok quickly fought his way into third place. Mid-race drama struck when a rival attempted an inside pass, resulting in a wheel-to-wheel clash that broke Shlok’s shift lever. Forced to ride the final five laps stuck in first gear, he managed to salvage third place.

Opting for the inner gate, Shlok’s race was briefly halted by a red flag after a false start. On the restart, he pushed hard but suffered from arm pump by lap seven, limiting his aggression. Running fourth, he capitalized on mistakes from the front-runners to finish second.

Reflecting on the weekend, Shlok admitted that wheel spin, cornering control issues, and stiff suspension in the dry conditions made the race a battle for survival.

“Following my injury, I’m still working back to my full pace. This race was about keeping the speed and finishing strong. I’m grateful for the support from my family and KTM India for keeping my passion for racing alive.”

Shlok now heads to California for an intensive training stint before returning in October for the next round of the MRF Mogrip Supercross FMSCI Championship.
