Franchises make bold retention calls as Indian Supercross gears up for its biggest season yet
The Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) has introduced a landmark Rider Retention Mechanism ahead of its Season 2 Auction, marking a first in Indian motorsport history. For the upcoming season, franchises can retain a maximum of two riders (one per category), adding a new layer of strategy to team-building and auction dynamics.
Globally, athlete retention is common in established leagues, and ISRL’s adoption signals its rise as a serious player on the international motorsport stage. With 155 riders from 23 countries registered for Season 2, retention rules allow teams to safeguard key performers while preparing for high-stakes bidding battles.
“India is fast becoming a premier Supercross destination. With rider retention in play, team selection will demand sharp strategy. We’re confident this season will deliver the highest caliber of racing ever seen in India—and possibly Asia.”
— Eeshan Lokhande, Co-Founder, ISRL
